BCN Clàssics vocation is the disposition to be a series of eclectic concerts combining different genres, top quality orchestras, chamber groups and soloists of the highest level. All with a common denominator: classical music entertainment. Music to listen to, to enjoy, to think about or simply to get carried away. The great musical creations of the last three centuries, whatever the formation for which have been composed, performed today.
In this first year of BCN Clàssics at the Palau de la Música Catalana (this concert cycle was already presented in the Oval Room of the MNAC three consecutive summers) we have five orchestral concerts –our great passion–, a recital by Daniel Barenboim and an out of season extraordinary concert by the Vienna Boys´ Choir. Great works such as Mahler´s 5th Symphony, Carmina Burana by Orff and three Beethoven symphonies. World-class conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Josep Pons and Daniel Harding, and fine home-bred performers such as the Cadaqués Orchestra conducted by its music directors, Jaime Martín and Gianandrea Noseda.
Exceptional concerts at European hours, most at 8PM, to encourage and inspire a wide ranging public, wishing to experience the best classical music in a unique way.
